Sun Diego Charter has been a leading provider of charter bus transportation services throughout San Diego and Southern California since 1997. We operate 24 hours per day, 365 days per year out of three locations across greater San Diego and employ nearly 200 commercially licensed, professional motorcoach operators. We work extensively with the United States military, destination management and tour group companies, corporate entities, and local casinos, and provide services that are integral to the tourism and hospitality industries.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Manager - Charter Operations is tasked with leading the Charter Operations team while honoring our commitment to safety, operational excellence, and customer service. This includes all aspects about but not limited to Charter driver and dispatch operations, training and performance development, and working closely with the Sales Department.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Manage and maintain staffing levels necessary to operate and consistently meet all business goals.
? Plan, assign, and direct Charter office staff schedules, tasks, and workloads.
? Analyze the execution of service response, operational effectiveness, and business practices and collaborate with Director of Operations to improve department functionality.
? Confirm the daily schedule, communicate changes on individual work opportunities, and coordinate the impact of such changes to driver hours of service, availability, and bus/labor supply and demand.
? Serve as the conduit between sales department and Operations Specialists. Assist in improving communication across all departments.
? Work with the maintenance team to ensure coach availability, and plan for equipment maintenance, vehicle repair, and other issues which impact vehicle inventory.
? Update the software platform to reflect the proper status of all vehicles and drivers daily.
? Respond to incidents, accidents, and injuries with remote and onsite support as needed.
? Complete post-incident/accident/injury reporting and reviews with drivers.

MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION:
? Coach/counsel Operations Specialists as necessary to improve performance.
? Support an employee and values focused culture which enables success amongst all team members.
? Respond to driver concerns and requests. Assist in coaching and counseling of drivers when necessary. Ensure respect and communication between maintenance, driver operators, and Operations Specialists.
? Train new team members within the department.
? Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
? Serve in place of the Director of Operations in his or her absence.
? Manage and conduct the business in accordance with company leadership principles.
? Ensure the department operates safely and with operational best practices in mind.

COORDINATION WITH SALES DEPARTMENT:
? Respond timely to the sales team with acceptance or rejection of bookings requests.
? Review weekly, all future bookings for the next 30 business days, communicating any conflicts or overcapacity concerns.

INTERACTION WITH CLIENTS:
? Review orders in Coach Manager and provide feedback to the sales team.
? Provide occasional on-site support and logistics coordination for large events.
? Investigate and respond to complaints, customer service incidents, and service failures.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
? Contribute alongside other supervisors, managers and staff to formulate goals and objectives.
? Perform duties and functions to help streamline the daily business operations of the company.
? Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing additional tasks and assignments as needed.
? Respond calmly and professionally in all interactions with team members, customers, bus
patrons, and the general public.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY:
Intermediate skills needed. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to effectively respond to day-to-day issues and challenges, and capacity to discern issues that should be referred to by the Director of Operations or General Manager.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Intermediate computer skills and proficiency are essential to the successful performance of this role. Multi-year experience using MS office suite, with an acumen for learning new programs and applications.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
? Valid Class C driver’s license.
? Class A or B California Commercial Driver’s License, passenger and air brake endorsement, and SPAB certification (or equivalent combination of certifications and
experience).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
? High school diploma or equivalent.
? Previous management experience.
? Minimum of 2 years’ experience dispatching in the transportation industry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment normally entails the following:
? An indoor work environment with the occasional need to perform work duties outdoors.
? Moderate noise, frequent interruptions, visitors, drivers entering and exiting the facility and break/lunch area.
